Learn How to Style Your Hannah Montana Halloween Costume

By Dawn Andrews

So many girls want to be Hannah Montana for Halloween this year. There are some great store bought costumes available, but your daughter wants to be unique. She wants something that makes her special. So what can you do?

Face it, we mothers are busy - between taking care of our families, cooking, cleaning, our jobs, volunteering at school, car-pooling - well, WHEW . I am exhausted just thinking about it. Who has the time to make an outfit from scratch. My suggestion is to buy one of the terrific selections of Hannah Montana Halloween costumes that are available, and then customize the costume by becoming your own stylist.

Every fashionista, including models and actors, have their own stylist. The stylist is in charge of taking clothes and turning them into knockout outfits. Fashion stylists are responsible for bringing life to a fashion occasion, whether that is a fashion shoot, a stage performance, or a walk down the red carpet. They create the mood by selecting the appropriate props, fashions, accessories to fit the theme. They coordinate colors and styles, adding just the right accessories, perfecting the makeup and hair, and turning the clothes into a fashion event. They take a store bought item and make it stand out. So lets take our purchased Hannah Montana Halloween costume and make it rock by being your own stylist.

If your daughter has long blonde hair, she can wear it straight with bangs and you already have the Hannah Montana rock star hair. You can look at some pictures online and duplicate the Hannah Montana style that best fits your daughter.

If your daughter's hair isn't blonde, you might want to purchase a wig or buy some temporary hair color - usually a spray - that is available around Halloween. Go to your local CVs and you are sure to find one of those temporary spray in hair colors. A safer choice, in my opinion, is to buy a wig, or to buy a costume that comes with a wig. That way you can be certain to avoid any hair disasters that can strip away the fun of Halloween.

Decide what accessories you want for the outfit. Whether it is a sparkly belt, high boots or something else you have seen Hannah wear, adding these items will make the outfit super special. You can also add headphones to give that on-stage singer look. Even a sequined headband can add a stylish touch to the Hannah Montana costume.

Next, let's find some rock star jewelry. This depends on whether your Hannah Montana Halloween costume has a skirt or slacks. In ALL cases, she can use a sparkly bracelet or a sparkly, but small, necklace. I like a silver cuff bracelet for its versatility. If you prefer, you can use a small necklace. A cute pendant always works. Just be sure it sparkles and is something your daughter will want to wear after Halloween. I would not do both the bracelet and the necklace. That starts to scream overdone. Like they say in fashion circles, after you put on your jewelry, take one piece off. Always good advice. My suggestion is to look at a bunch of Hannah Montana photos and see what type of accessories she is wearing. You can always try to duplicate one of her looks.

Finally, let's put together a plan for the makeup. You must get the makeup right so your young Hannah looks like she is a rock star ready to perform on stage. Take care of those brows. Hannah Montana has well defined eyebrows. Pluck, if needed so you define your own natural arch. Then fill in the brows with a light brown eye shadow using a stiff brush, or you can use a light brown eye brown pencil. Just keep your brows light (no dark brown pencils) but keep them well-defined. Hannah Montana always has a great tan complexion. The easiest way to get this tan is to use a little bronzer. Use a real light touch. Next, a little blush to set off that great tan. Use a little pink, rose, or peach blush. I love the peach blush with the Gold Hannah Montana Halloween costumes. If you are using a powder blush, take a small brush, shake off the excess, and gently apply to the apples of your cheeks. Do it lightly, and then reapply until you get the shade you are looking for. Add some lip gloss and you are done.

Enjoy this time. Halloween can be a special bonding experience with your daughter. By showing her how to style outfits with just a little effort and not much money, you can be teaching her some valuable fashion lessons that will stay with her during her teen years. - 15252
