6 Things You Should Know Before Buying A Couch

By Steven M. Fisher

1: COLOR IS KEY.

Look for colors that express your personal style or work with colors you already have in your room because color will be the first element you respond to.

2: THE COMFORT TEST.

When you find a style that appeals to you, try it out for comfort. Bounce up and down on the cushions. Make sure it feels right to you.

3: LASTING QUALITIES.

Wiggle the arms. Do they hold firm, indicating good workmanship? Lift the frame. Does it feel heavy and sturdy?

4: GET THE FEEL.

Do you like the feel of the fabric? Are the seams straight and does the fabric line up properly? Most importantly, do you like the way it feels when you sit and relax on it?

5: PRICING.

Good quality sofas are available in all price ranges. Price and compare.

6: MAKE SURE IT FITS.

The sofa shouldn't overwhelm your room, but also you don't want it to be dwarfed by the other pieces of furniture. - 15252
