A Few Design Ideas For Your Kids' Room

By Alix Montoya

Your kids, however cute and cuddly they are right now, unfortunately, won't be staying that way for too long. They're going to go through a hundred changes in growing up and their bedroom has to keep up with all these changes to make the transition worthwhile. And there are various ways in which you can make these changes a fun experience for yourself and, most importantly, your kids.

Instead of sticking with themed bed sheets or over-sized comforters, try using a brightly colored bed covers instead. Age doesn't always have to be an issue if you just use a plain bright blue cover instead of a Spiderman themed one when you're child has outgrown the super-hero obsession.

Try making gradual changes to his dresser as well. You can paint the dressers to match the wallpapers and other furniture. You can also add some new furniture to make the change even more visible. You can replace a changing table for a shelf for storing toys. You can put chairs there too to give your child some place to sit on and for you to use when you're reading him or her a bedtime story.

Make his or her bedroom a bit older or more mature than your child. This way they don't outgrow things much faster. Just don't make it too mature. Keep everything in bright pastel colors and make the bedroom as cozy and warm as possible. Keep in mind that your child will be spending most of his growing up years inside his or her bedroom.

The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that you need to make it comfortable for your child. Remember that he or she will be spending a lot of time here. The last thing you'll need is to have a room that offers no refuge for troubling times. - 15252
