Benefits of Mineral Makeup

By Makeup Girl

Mineral makeup is one of the hottest new trends in makeup. While the concept itself is over thirty years old, it is only in the past few years that it is increased in popularity. As its name implies, the makeup consists of natural minerals from the earth.

As buyers, we must beware of imitations that claim to have all natural ingredients, but dont. As with any popular trend, there are companies out there that are trying to make a quick buck, but arent offering the true product. In truth, any makeup that contains minerals can be referred to as mineral makeup, but you want to be sure that you are getting the pure thing.

Ive been using a loose powder foundation for over a year now and have loved the change from traditional foundation. All natural products claim that their ingredients are better for your skin than regular makeup. There are a few doctors that disagree with this statement, but for the most part, doctors back it up. I can only go by my own experience which has been fantastic. The powder has a more natural look and it doesnt cause my skin to break out ever like other foundations did.

Of course, if you end up with an imitator that doesnt contain pure ingredients; you may experience irritation to your skin. Just because the product claims to be all natural, doesnt mean it is. Read the ingredients to be sure and watch out for any dyes, chemicals or preservatives. One particular ingredient is used by a lot of imitators. Be on the lookout for Bismuth Oxychloride. Even though it is a mineral, it is not a natural one and is known to be a skin irritant. It can cause itching and even a rash.

Mineral makeup is extremely beneficial for women with acne, rosacea or even scarring. The coverage can be as heavy or as sheer as you would like it to be, so you can cover any areas that need more makeup. It also layers very well. You can apply just as much as you need without causing the makeup to look clumpy or cakey. The makeup also lasts for a long time and minimizes the need for touch-ups throughout the day.

In addition, mineral makeup also provides natural SPF protection from the sun's harsh and harmful rays. You really can't be too careful when protecting your skin from sun damage. We all know that too much sun exposure can cause premature aging, wrinkles and sunspots. You may even want to use an SPF moisturizer underneath your mineral foundation to provide even more protection for your skin. Together you can prevent almost any damage to your face on a daily basis.

I have loved my mineral makeup. You'll have to see what you think once you experience it. If you give it a try, you may find you love it too. - 15252
