Discover The Easy Way To Prevent And Treat Cold Sores

By Tina Woodburn

If you are one of the unfortunate people who suffer with cold sores, you should be aware that there are many ways of preventing or minimizing the amount of break outs you have.

Cold sores are both irritating and painful and quite often spread to the degree that you may have several sores on your lips at any one time. This is due to the fact that the fluid within the sore is very contagious and if it touches any other part of the skin it is likely to cause a further outbreak.

There are several reasons why you may get cold sores, but the main ones are when you do not have enough lysine in your body or when you are experiencing stress.

It is important to know how to reduce your chances of getting a cold sore and how to prevent them occurring at all in the future.

Another main factor leading to cold sores is exposure to the sun. Always use a sun block and moisturizer on your lips when you are in the sun. This will help to prevent cold sores appearing.

If you already have a cold sore and you want to prevent it from spreading, then you shouldn't touch it. Don't pinch, squeeze, or pick at the blister because the stuff inside of the sore will spread. If you do find yourself touching your cold sore then you should wash your hands as much as possible.

You can also prevent cold sores by taking Vitamin C and Lysine, deficiency of which is know to be the biggest cause of outbreaks. You can take both Vitamin C and Lysine in supplement form and this will reduce the amount of sores you suffer with and will also prevent future outbreaks from occurring.

No-one actually enjoys having cold sores as they do not look good and they are such a nuisance. However, if you follow the advice above, keeping your lips protected when in the sun by the use of sun block or moisturizers, making sure your body has the recommended levels of Vitamin C and Lysine and maintaining a well balanced and healthy diet, you will be well on your way to minimizing the occurrence of this unpleasant and unsightly condition. - 15252
