How to decide on a Bathroom Vanity

By Marc J. Zidan

Before you even start to decorate your bathroom you should be considering what type of bathroom vanity you want to place in your bathroom? Why, because the mirror is the focal point of a room where most of the furniture has been predetermined by necessity and existing washroom fixtures. When redecorating the bathroom most people generally do not replace the shower, toilet, and sink, but simply work with what they have.

The lavatory is the only room that provides peace and quiet while guests are fixated on the details of your bathroom vanity. As a homeowner or a renter you control the way your restroom is decorated. Guests are the ones that judge your bathroom by checking all the fine details and observing the method you had chose when you set up the room.

There are various items that can not be controlled by you at all, so you need to focus on the things you can change yourself. The various themes that are carried through your bathroom that can make it feel warm, inviting and also sleek by the use of one element, the bathroom vanity. When redecorating your bathroom, you need to first think of a theme that will match the rest of the house. As soon as you have chosen your theme, it is time to shop for your bathroom vanity.

If your bathroom has already been decorated, you will want to match the theme you have already to keep the theme flowing through the entire room. When your guests enter or exit your bathroom, your mirror is going to be the piece that says it all about the room so hopefully it will not disappoint them. Most people don't look at how the bathroom vanity sits above the sink. If the theme of the mirror is opposite of the style of the rest of the room then it will stand out.

A smaller bathroom vanity that has a larger sink can be accented by adding a few accessories that match the trim of the cabinet. In this case, choosing a natural wood framed mirror, you can pick up some wood towel racks that can enhance the wood theme and add a unique style to your lavatory. You can even add a toothbrush holder and soap dish combination to follow through with the theme and take the focus off of the walls. This can create a warm and comfortable atmosphere that everyone will be happy with.

Wood trimming is always nice for a bathroom vanity when the colors of the towels and blinds are hunter green or reds. Both popular colors for bathroom themes, the wood trimming brings a warm welcoming feeling to a room that most likely is already cold and sterile instead.

If you want the sleek and shiny look of your bathroom to come through with blue tones and bright fish decoration, (also common in bathrooms) you want to choose a vanity that has silver or gold trimming to match the color scheme and the fixtures in your restroom. A lot can be said with your bathroom vanity, do not miss your opportunity to dress up the bathroom. - 15252
