Ways to Get Rid of Stretch Marks

By Jayna Davis

Is there way to get rid of stretch marks? This is a common question for people who have suddenly gone onto the crusade to look and feel good and to be healthier.

It goes two ways: if you gain a lot of weight or lose a lot of it suddenly, you'll end up with a bunch or marks on your shoulders, back and your stomach that will making putting on a pair of Speedos or a two-piece a little less comfortable than it should be.

After all, you worked really hard to get to the point where you're just raring for the beach because you know those washboard abs or slim waist is gonna make people stop and stare. You shouldn't let a bunch of indentations and marks get in the way.

Stretch marks can appear at various places around the body but are most apparent on the breast, legs, butt or back. These places are more subject to the rapid increase or decrease in mass during weight gain or loss. Stretch marks are actually scar tissue that were broken underneath the skin.

Laser is one option to get rid of stretch marks. Even though they work only on freshly formed stretch marks, they are an effective method that most would want to have done. However, they come at a steep price and may not be affordable to most people.

By breaking down the marks and allowing tissue to freshly grow is how laser actually works on stretch marks. Results may not be visible during the first session. Subsequent sessions of six or more are needed for the laser treatment to be called a success.

It would be wise, however, to get various consults on the effects and risks associated with laser surgery. Our bodies are different and may, thus, react differently; and you could just be wasting your money or may spend more than what you've budget for.

Prescription creams have also been developed just for treatment of those marks. Milder stretch marks are more easily tamed with these creams. Retin-A creams are your best bet, though this cream tends to only function for stretch marks that are relatively fresh, those less than a year old.

Other creams actually focus on making sure that your skin remains elastic and, thus, resistant to formation of stretch marks. Making sure that they don't have the chance to come to be to begin with is the best way to fight them.

Getting rid of your stretch marks or reducing their visibility can make you more comfortable frolicking at the beach. After all, you've worked hard at getting your body formed and sculpted the way you want it to be, and no stretch marks is gonna get in the way.

Luckily, there are numerous methods out there published on forums and various search engines: tips and tricks to make sure that you go out there with unmarred, great skin. Now you know the answer to the question: Is there a way to get rid of stretch marks? - 15252
